JULY
JULY 5: Lithgow's veteran representative Cheryl Rutherford and Tracey Baker were selected for the National Masters competition to be held on the Gold Coast.
JULY 9: Lithgow Panthers men's premier league hockey team smashed it out of Parkes when they took on Parkes United, dominating with an 11-1 win. Brandan Horner scored six goals.
JULY 16: Playing in a top of six degrees in Lithgow, the Orange Cyms weren't prepared for the onslaught that was to come from the Lithgow Workies Wolves as they went down 54-18.
JULY 19: Lithgow Workies Lazers pushed their winning streak out to six games in the Spalding Waratah League Division One Men's Basketball competition after an ultimately comfortable 95-65 victory over the Orange Eagles at Sir Neville Howse Stadium in Orange.
JULY 23: Fourteen members of the Seito Shito Ryu Phillips Dojo from Lithgow set out to karate chop their way to Freemantle, Western Australia for the 12th International Taikai World Championships.
JULY 30: Emily Thompson returned to Australia carrying a bronze medal for her hard work as part of the School Sport Australia girls' hockey team.
AUGUST
AUG 2: Lithgow Workies Lazers' rollercoaster season came to a sad end following a disappointing 84-81 Spalding Waratah League Division One Men's Basketball loss to the Queanbeyan Yowies in Queanbeyan. It was also the final game for Lazers captain Adam Marjoram, who has announced his retirement.
AUG 2: Members of Lithgow Women's Hockey Masters No 1 team were thrilled to be joint winner when they participated in the NSW Women's Hockey full state tournament held in Bathurst.
AUG 9: Lithgow High School's Ryan Wells may only be in Year 7, but he is already a veteran when it comes to representing his region at the All Schools Championships in Homebush. At the most recent event, he exceeded all his previous success, claiming the Under 12's Combined High Schools (CHS) title and finishing seventh against all the schools competing in his age group.
AUG 9: It was the end of the line for the Lithgow Bears and Portland Colts in this year's New Era Cup competition. Portland Colts took on the favoured CSU Mungoes in the major semis on July 27 at the university grounds but were hammered down to a 64-0 loss. In the minor semis the Bears took on Orange Barbarians which resulted in a 60-0 defeat pushing them out of the competition. The Colts were handed another opportunity to play in the grand final when they met with the Barbs on August 3, but the pressure was on and it was Orange who booked their spot in the New Era Cup grand final with a convincing 44-8 win.
AUG 23: The Lithgow Workmen's club first grade football team was guaranteed the minor premiership when it met with CSU in Bathurst August 18. Workies' fill-in captain and striker Ben Sheehan bagged a hat-trick, leading the side to a 3-1 victory. He also scored his 100th goal for the club.
AUG 30: Despite going into the semi-finals as minor premiers, the Lithgow Panthers men couldn't convert any of their chances on Saturday, August 24 against Orange Wanderers. They went down 2-0 and exited the Premier League Hockey competition for 2019.
SEPTEMBER
SEPT 3: NSW Country gun and Lithgow Panthers star Amelia Leard rode the roller coaster ride that is grand final emotion on Saturday. Her young Panthers side turned to her with the women's Premier League Hockey grand final on the line and, although secretly terrified of the moment, stepped up in the clutch to bag the match-defining goal and help Lithgow secure the 2019 title with a 2-1 victory over Orange CYMS.
SEPT 3: Workies Wolves premier league team went out in the Group 10 elimination semi-final clash against the Mudgee Dragons.
SEPT 10: Weeks of hard training and teamwork helped secure a grand final victory for Lithgow Storm's under 16 side when they took on Orange CYMS at Bathurst on Saturday, September 7.
SEPT 10: Lithgow's own Jimmy Reinhardt and Jake Gale from Workies Wolves brought home some silverware from the annual Group 10 awards, following their performance in the reserve grade competition. Reinhardt was awarded coach of the year in the Group 10 competition while Gale was announced as reserve grade player of the year.
SEPT 17: This is the moment the Workies reserve grade team capped off an unbeaten season with a grand final title.
SEPT 24: Lithgow High School's open boys hockey team has thrilled its home town by bringing home the silver medal in the Combined High Schools Knockout competition.
SEPT 24: Lithgow Workmans FC defeats Abercrombie FC in Bathurst District Football men's premier league grand final shoot-out.
OCTOBER
OCT 18: Lithgow resident Luke Seymour took home a state title in the Tag 125 Heavy division of the 2019 NSW Karting championships.
OCT 18: Lithgow export Abby Wilson Wilson scored all five of the NSW Pride's goals in round three of the inaugural Hockey One Championship on October 12, leading the team to a 5-0 win over the Tassie Tigers.
OCT 22: Anglers from around the region and as far as Canowindra, Sydney and the Central Coast cast their lines into Wallerawang's Lake Wallace for the annual Gone Fishing Day on Sunday, October 20.
OCT 22: An incredible late-order surge from Connor Slattery and Matt Corben lifted Central West to a remarkable victory over the Illawarra Flames on Sunday, one that booked the Wranglers' tickets to the SCG for the Cricket NSW Plan B Regional Bash finals series.
OCT 25: Lithgow export Wayde Egan will be a New Zealand Warrior in 2020. Club Penrith Panthers confirmed the switch.
OCT 29: Mudgee and Bathurst have seen success in bringing NRL games to their fields, and now Lithgow City Councillor Wayne McAndrew hopes that Lithgow can follow in their footsteps. Cr McAndrew put in a notice of motion for the Monday, October 28 council meeting with the recommendation that the council engage with the National Rugby League regarding what is required by them to stage NRL games here in Lithgow.
OCT 29: All rounder Angus Clues has been made part of the 2020 Parramatta Eels Under 14's development squad after a successful trial.
NOVEMBER
NOV 5: The Lithgow Lightning team picked up its first win of the 2019-20 Royal Hotel Cup on Friday, November 1.
NOV 8: The Australian Chopperoos made history in Prague on November 2, beating traditional rivals New Zealand in a thrilling final. It was a big weekend for champion timber sports competitor, Lithgow's Brad De Losa, who captained his team to another World Championship title.
NOV 8: Lithgow Panthers star Brandan Horner was selected to tour Austria with the Australian open men's indoor hockey team.
NOV 12: Graeme Osborne may be stepping away from his role as coach of the Lithgow Workies Wolves premier league in 2020, but he will be sticking around to help the club in his new role.
NOV 15: Lithgow Workies Wolves forwards Corey Willmott and Greg Behan will be stepping up to the plate as the newly appointed coaches of the premier grade in 2020.
NOV 19: Lithgow champion golfer Andrew Burton added yet another title to his already impressive list of victories when he took out the Blue Mountains Golf Championships held at Lithgow.
NOV 19: "It's a privilege to be announced as coach for 2020," new league tag coach Tiffany Willmott said. She is excited to get stuck into coaching the Workies Wolves league tag team.
NOV 26: Lithgow's Commonwealth Games gold medallist Lachi Sharp will be part of the 2020 Kookaburras team. The 27-player Kookaburras squad has been announced for next year's bumper international calendar, headlined by the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and defence of the FIH Pro League title.
NOV 26: Twenty-one-year-old Lithgow export Gerard Roebuck is kicking his way to success in Texas. The homegrown footballer has been juggling study and play for the last two years with an Environmental Science degree at St Mary's University in San Antonio and playing goalkeeper for the university team.
