Ken Poppett has been a staple of Lithgow bowls, having played for over half of his life with both Lithgow City and Lithgow Workies and he recently celebrated his 80th birthday on Sunday, May 16.

Ken has been bowling for the last 50 years having started with Lithgow City in the 1970's then in the early 1980's Ken joined the Lithgow Workies Bowling Club where he has been an active bowler for the last 40 years.
Over this time he has won many titles including the Blue Mountains District Bowling Association senior pairs twice, the triples four times and the fours three times. One of Ken's notable achievements was in 2008 where he won the senior singles district title and zone 5 championship that year and was also named B.M.D.B.A. bowler of the year.
The Workies bowling titles have not eluded Ken as he has won the club championship singles, pairs, triples and fours multiple times.

He has also served on the Lithgow Workies Bowls committee for a number of years and was Secretary for three years. Ken is also a life member of the Workies Bowling Club.
Ken is a very popular member and with a wealth of knowledge is always willing to give help and advice to new bowlers.
Ken celebrated with a birthday cake from his fellow members and he thanked everyone for their best wishes.
