The semi-finals of the major singles were both very tight games.
All players should be complemented after putting in the effort to get their games over.
In game one last years champ Steve Jackson took on Craig Pugsley. After being 3-all early it was Jackson who handled the trying conditions better as he went to a 15-5 lead.
At 8-15 down Pugsley looked to be getting back into the game but Jackson skipped away again to lead 20-10 and then 25-10.
A slight change in the weather saw Pugsley adjust first and get to trail 22-26.
Leading 27-22 Jackson picked up a 4 take out the game 31-22 in a good display in hard conditions.
Ian McMillan took on Peter Piggott in the second semi and once again a great game ensured.
Piggott lead 10-4 but McMillan fought back to trail 8-10.
Good ends saw Piggott lead 18-8 with McMillan struggling in the conditions.
Once again it was the chasing player who came good with McMillan drawing level on 21 all. Piggott picked up a couple of good ends to lead 30-25.
With nothing to lose McMillan kicked onto draw level on 30 all before he got the shot to win 31-30. McMillan will now play Steve Jackson in the final.
In the Triples Murray Stewart, Peter Matchett and Mike McNamara took on Kim Alexander, Lance Gillespie and Ron Vidler.
The McNamara team was never headed in a game that was always close. Alexander trailed 14-16 but dropped a 2 and a 5 to go down 23-14.
McNamara and team proved it was no fluke as they took on Ian McMillan, Bruce Robinson and Peter Williams, McNamara lead 18-4 at the halfway mark and from there on there was no return for McMillan's as they went down 29-18.
Peter Piggott, Craig Pugsley and Craig Brown came up with a flying start against Graham Haley, Tony Holden and Ross Harrington. Leading 13-1 the Piggott team never let their opponents into the game as they won 31-13.
In the socials Kim Alexander and Judy Egan dragged themselves off the floor after trailing 8 nil and 12-4 to lead 17-12.
Peter Matchett and Bruce Robinson were having none of that as they went from that score to win all the remaining ends to win 22-17.
