Due to COVID-19 Lithgow Basketball has been in lockdown since march 2020, but with the NSW Government giving the go ahead to all sports and a lot of work being done by NSW Basketball and the Lithgow Basketball Association, they can now get back out onto the court.
Junior girls will resume on Wednesday, July 28 and boys will return on Thursday, July 29.
Lithgow Basketball is asking players to arrive each day at 4pm, and play will commence at 4.10pm, giving the players time to go through the COVID-19 entry protocol.
There will be 15 minutes between each game to allow for COVID-19 cleaning, and the following teams will not be able to enter the stadium until the cleaning is completed.
No one will be able to bring their own ball on game day's, and players will have to be ready to play in uniform as change rooms will remain locked. Players can bring their own water bottles.
Only one parent or carer will be allowed in the stadium, no siblings or anyone else will be able to come in as this follows the governments orders for return to sport.
When dropping off kids and picking them up from the stadium, the routine has changed.
Drop off points will be the normal car park and the pick up point will be the car park on the other side of the stadium.
"Every person entering the stadium must adhere to all COVID 19 rules; this is required to keep all players and parents safe during this pandemic," Association Chair of Directors, Richard Marjoram said.
In the next few weeks Lithgow Basketball has a number of Junior Lazer Teams competing in the NSW Country Challenge at various locations across the state, these teams have been in training over the last few weeks working hard to bring their skills up to scratch so they can put in a good showing at the challenge.
The teams for the local competition will be the same as they were prior to the compulsory lockdown.
"Lets hope we can get to finish the competition and not be forced to go into lock down again," Marjoram said.
