Hunter hit an unbeaten 108 not out to lead his team to a win with 6-186.
Mikk Mlanric contributed 37 before he was stumped.
Valley’s bowlers came away with some cheap wickets, sending five batsmen back to the stands before they reached double figures.
Andrew Fawbert and Nick Miller both claimed two wickets, with Nic Kenniff and Chris Giugni taking one each.
But Hunter wasn't done.
With ball in hand, he set about demolishing Valley’s line-up, taking 4-22, alongside fellow Hotel bowler Blake Caldwell (4-20).
Nic Kenniff (29) and Nick Miller (24) were the best of Valley’s batsmen, and the team was dismissed for 104.
Wickets also went to Jon Cronin and Matt McManus.
Lidsdale v Hampton
The Lidsdale Lions made a big comeback after losing to Lithgow Hotel last week, with batsmen Phil Wright and Brendan Roach spearheading their win over Hampton on Saturday, February 16.
Hampton’s opening batsman Fazeel Tariq made a half century to get his team’s innings off on the right foot.
Lidsdale bowler Harry Bender (3-28) did some damage at the top of the order, but Matt Palmer held firm at number six to contribute the next highest total, 37.
Hampton’s innings total was 185.
Wickets went to Lidsdale’s Brendan McCann (3-50), Nick Bender (1-27), Emmett Freeman (1-12) and Brendan Roach (1-12).
Roach backed up with the bat, making 75 and combining with Phil Roach (79) for a 134 run partnership to open Lidsdale’s innings.
Hampton’s Matt Palmer (4-12) and Mick Byrne (3-48) went on to effectively contain the batting attack, but the damage had been done. Lidsdale finished on 9-202.
Portland 1 v La Salle Hornets 1
Portland lost just one wicket on its way to a win over the La Salle Hornets on Saturday.
La Salle Hornets were in big trouble early in their innings, with Portland’s Shane Doohan (4-37) taking out the middle order. The highest run score went to the very last of the tail-enders, Andrew Brown, on 31. The team finished on 124.
It was a promising start for the Hornets’ bowlers, with Todd Walsh taking opener Shane Doohan for 8. But there was no more joy to be had, as Sam Cameron put on 81 runs, including 15 boundaries. He was assisted by Isaac Fardell (33 not out) to claim the win, 1-131.
THE DUCK POND
It was a golden week in the duck pond.
Hampton’s Matthew McDonald was out for a golden duck, bowled by Lidsdale’s Harry Bender. He was joined by La Salle Hornets Adam Lewis and David Wheeler, both out for golden quackers.
Lithgow Hotel 1’s Matt McManus was bowled for a duck (not the golden variety) by Valley’s Nick Miller.
Valley’s Hayden Wren was unlucky, stumped for no runs, joined soon after by teammate Peter Gajula, who was caught off the bowling of Blake Caldwell.
