Well, that was the task at hand for Mitchell Case as he competed in the 2019 Australian CrossFit Championships at the Gold Coast.
The Club Revive CrossFit Uplift personal trainer and CrossFit coach spent his Australia Day weekend from January 24 to 27 competing in a range of workouts with his Star Strength team.
The 21-year-old said the experience was something to remember and he loved every second of it.
“Such a great experience it has given me the motivation to keep going in the sport and hopefully take it further.
“The team experience was great which allowed me to get some exposure to a larger competition and to be around some of the best athletes in the world,” Case said.
Case said he was nervous in the days leading into competition especially facing the ocean swim.
“I think I was mostly just nervous for the ocean swim, but once it was done I felt pretty confident about the rest of my competition as it was more things in my wheelhouse,” he said.

He also said he felt a bit of pressure with workouts not being released until the night before competition.
“There was a bit of pressure trying to organise a team strategy of who would start where and do what, so each night we spent a bit over an hour talking about the workouts and practicing the flow of the workout in the hotel room,” he said.
Case said on the very last day of competition his team had two heat wins which he described as an “awesome experience.”
“We won both heats fairly convincingly so we were out in front majority of the workouts which was a good experience in front of the crowd at the stadium,” he said.
He also said it was great having a support network that travelled to the Gold Coast with him .
“It was always easier going into workouts knowing they had come all that way to support me,” he said.
Case also said he had lots of local support with people messaging him and watching live streams of his workouts on social media.
“All the support didn’t go unnoticed,” he said.
Case’s Star Strength team finished up in sixth place out of 16 teams.
“We were really happy, there was some stacked teams up there which we felt like we mixed in with well,” he said.
Now back from the Gold Coast Case said he was to keep training as normal and prepare for the CrossFit opens in a month’s time in which he aimed to qualify as an individual for another sanctioned event in May in Wollongong.
Case also wanted to thank Stitch ‘em up for making his supporter shirts.
