A number of functions were held around the Lithgow area to mark the 2021 Lexus Melbourne Cup.
Community members gathered at the Lithgow Workies, The Tarana Hotel, Wallerawang Bowling Club, Club Lithgow, The Blue Fox and Frankie's at Zig Zag Motel.
At the iconic time of 3pm punters were glued to the screen and watched as Verry Elleegant ridden by jockey James McDonald, smashed the field to salute by four lengths from favourite Incentivise, with Spanish Mission third in front of a crowd of 10,000 at Flemington.
