The ladies proved their strength in the Premier League Hockey match on Saturday when they took a 6-1 victory over Sydney team, Briars.
The ladies were led by Lithgow Panthers women's title-winning coach David Marshall at Bathurst's Cooke Hockey Complex. Four of his elite players - Jess Luchetti, Clare Bosman, Chelsea Marshall and Millie Leard were selected to hit the turf.
Marshall said his squad played extremely well which showed why there were among the region's elite to be selected.
"For a team who has not played together it only really took 15 minutes for them to begin to gel," he said.
"Their skill level and intensity was at a high level from the start of the game with ball movement coming to fruition late in the second quarter."
"After half time an additional five goals were scored due to ball movement and our structure being solid across the field," Marshall said.
Marshall said the third quarter was a highlight when the ladies were moving the ball around at pace and finding the back of the net three times.
He said there were no stand out players over the duration of the match, instead it was an overall team performance.
"I honestly can say there were no stand outs. It was a team performance across all four quarters which made it more pleasing as a coach," he said.
Marshall said it was a pleasure to coach an elite group of players, especially against a Sydney side
"I always enjoy coaching against a Sydney side when the opportunity arises, but seeing how the girls bonded prior to the game was a great surprise considering we had not trained.
"The result they achieved just shows how strong the Western Premier League women's competition is to select from."
