The classic home with its five bedrooms, two bathrooms and 10 parking spaces is a well-known fixture for many Lithgow residents.
The entire ground floor is made up of grand entertainment size living areas consistent with the era and an attic ballroom of approximately seven metres by 16 metres.
At the auction bidding commenced at $900,000 and was passed in with a vendor $1,500,000, according to Sothesby's International Realty director of rural services David Medina.

"The vendor has already relocated to Queensland and has met this market at a very realistic figure.
"Buyers have been well aware that the opportunity to purchase 'Wenvoe' may never arrive for another generation.
"There were four registered bidders and negotiations have continued with the parties following the auction and we expect those negotiations to conclude over the coming days," he said.
Mr Medina said buyer interest had been outstanding and Sotheby's along with Elders have been overwhelmed by that interest.
