
TWO police officers have been injured when their marked highway patrol vehicle was hit while stopped on the side of a road in the Blue Mountains.

The two officers were driving along Hawkesbury Road towards Springwood shortly before 5.30pm on Thursday when they stopped a driver for the purposes of a roadside breath test.
The driver allegedly returned a positive test and both officers were sitting in their police BMW sedan, when they were hit from behind by a Land Rover Discovery, which then rolled.
Both male officers sustained bruising and suspected neck injuries and have been taken to Nepean Hospital.
The drivers of the first vehicle and the P-plate driver of the four-wheel-drive were not injured.
The driver, who allegedly who returned a positive RBT, has been arrested and taken to Springwood Police Station for the purposes of a breath analysis.
