"People with symptoms of a cold or flu who live or work in the Lithgow and Blue Mountains Government areas are encouraged to be tested for COVID-19 following diagnoses of cases with unknown sources of infection or community transmission," a NBMLHD spokesperson said.
As of 8pm Sunday, April 26 there are less than four cases in the Lithgow area where the source of infection is unknown.
In total, there have been 26 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Blue Mountains LGA and four in the Lithgow LGA. Of these, 19 are no longer infectious in the Blue Mountains and three are no longer infectious in Lithgow.
"Symptoms for COVID-19 include fever and or flu-like symptoms such as cough, sore throat or shortness of breath," the spokesperson said.
"By diagnosing people with COVID-19 early and identifying their close contacts and appropriately isolating them, we can help prevent further transmission in the community."
Free COVID-19 screening clinics are at Blue Mountains, Lithgow, Nepean and Hawkesbury Hospitals. You can find more information and opening times here.
"Everyone in the community can play a part in helping us contain the spread of COVID-19 by washing hands with soap and water often, using hand sanitiser, coughing and sneezing into your elbow or disposable tissue, and maintaining social distance of more than 1.5 metres," they said.
"People in NSW should stay at home unless needing to go out to work, exercise, seek medical assistance or buy groceries or medical supplies.
"People who are unwell should stay at home at all times, except for the purposes of seeking healthcare, remembering to call ahead so your GP can take additional precautions."
