A good field contested a stableford event at the Lithgow Golf Club and on arrival golfers were surprised that many of them were on a handicap one and two strokes lower than usual due to the new word handicap system.

Scores on the whole were down due to the handicap deductions plus the damp conditions and with the recent rains "run" was non existent.
There were a few that revelled in the conditions with a great par round being recorded by John Bird who amassed 41 points to take out A grade.
He had all parts of his game in control with long drives and an excellent short game.
Runner up in A grade on 39 on a countback was Anthony Oldfield while the best scratch score went to Steve Hall with a brilliant 68.
In B grade, the best was Michael Saville on 42 points which was the best stableford score of the day.
Saville also took out the best scratch with a 80.
Runner up was Geoff Thompson on 35 points on a countback.
Tom Jennings continues to defy his age when took out C grade with a score of 37 points and also recorded the best scratch score with 96.
Runner up was Tony Potts on 35 points.
Others to play well and pick up vouchers were Don Wolfenden, Justin McCann, Ross Harrington, Blake Bende, Peter Hall and Bill Oldfield. Vouchers cut out on 35 points neat.
Nearest to the pins went to Ross Harrington, Al Mostyn, Warren Kennedy, Tony Oldfield and Don Lovett.
Next Saturday's event will be the popular monthly medals with the Gold Medal Play offs in each grade for those who have won medals during 2019.
On Wednesday, February 19 the nine hole competition winner was Trevor Cameron on 25 points; runner up was Eli Felton with 24 and third place went to Chris Goodsell on 23 points on a countback.
Voucher winners were Jeff Geddes, Wayne Morris, Peter Williams, Mark Willmott, Graham Dean, Dave Duroux, Al Mostyn and Glen Newton. Vouchers cut out on 20 ocb.
Nearest the pins went to Mark Bennett and Glen Newton.
On Friday, February 21 the competition winner was Brian Giblett with the good score of 27 points.
Voucher winners were Don Farnsworth, Ross Harrington and Harry Bender. Vouchers cut out on 24 points.
Nearest to the pin went to Harry Bender.
