The Workies Women's Bowling club started off the year with the Fours Championship being played in hot and very windy conditions making it difficult for all players.

Beryl Evans led her experienced team to win the championship 28/17 over Sue Metcalf's team.
Evans proved she is still one of the clubs best players being at the top for over 20 years still has her dogged determination and always leads her team by example.
Evans team consisted of Kay Adams, Barbara Watters and Cath Kenniff.
Metcalf's team comprised Sue Anthes, Glenda Anthes and Wendy Constable.
Metcalf's team got away to a great start and by the fourth were leading 8/2 but with Watters getting her usual great draw shots in combining well with Kay Anthes, who has been playing superb lead bowls scored 13 in a row and at the 13th end had a commanding lead 22/11.

Metcalf rallied her team with newcomer Sue Anthes who has improved rapidly started trying to play catch up bowls.
Evans and Kenniff showing their experience in the wind and went on to win the match in convincing style.
Congratulations to all players who battled in the atrocious conditions making it a very worthy final.
Congratulations also to the Workies Wizards team winning the Western District Summer League competition.
This team comprised of Beryl Evans, Wendy Constable and Glenda Anthes defeating Cheryl Schram's Workies Wombats in a thriller having to play an extra end being locked at 11-all.
Evans team played consistent bowls to go on to a great win. Evans team now plays at Blacktown Workers club in February and our club wishes them the best of luck in the finals.
