A popular destination for Lithgow residents is the animated light display run by Lithgow Lights, also known as the Rawsthorne family, located in Finlay Avenue.
This year marks 12 years of the display making it one of the oldest animated light show in NSW and by far the oldest in the area.
Since its creation back in 2007 Lithgow Lights has raised $38,370 for charity, including $35,535 for current charity Redkite.
The display took over three weeks to put up, cost over $5000 this year and has taken 10 months to build new props and sequence the new songs.
The entire Rawsthorne family gets involved to greet cars, hand out lollipops and discuss the details of the display from 8pm until at least 10pm each night.
This year the Lithgow Lights animated Christmas light display has 16,515 LED lights, and a further 89,088 LED's that are part of LED screens, sequenced to a unique light and sound display.
It features seven new songs, and over 50 old songs will be sequenced into a 20 minute show that differs each night, and runs from 8pm until 10.30pm Sunday to Thursday, and 8pm until 11pm on Friday and Saturday nights.
