The Visa card owner reported the fraud after $320 was spent in three separate transactions on Sunday, November 17.
The way the account was accessed is unknown, as the resident still had possession of their card.
"It's a timely reminder that there are still skimming devices being used," Senior Sergeant Peter Foran said.
"As always, don't share information about your bank account, or your password with any organisation or person you do not completely trust."
To improve the safety of your financial information, Visa urges card holders to keep current with software and virus protection, to create strong passwords, ignore emails from unknown senders, use a pop-up blocker, download only from trusted sources and sign up for transaction alerts from your bank to keep track of your purchases.
