A bumper number of students from across Lithgow are preparing to sit this year's High School Certificate, and collectively they help represent one of the largest classes in regional NSW.
The HSC's first exam is on Thursday, with 1917 students from across the Central West preparing to sit the first of two English papers in the morning session, kicking off at 9.50am.
The second English exam will commence at the same time on Friday morning.
Lithgow is grouped together with students from Orange, Bathurst, the Lachlan Valley and the Mudgee regions, accounting for the near 2000 students currently cramming in their last minute studying for their final school exams.
The 1917 figure is higher than last year's total from the same Central West region, with 1876 students completing the 2018 HSC.
The Central West's class of 2019 represents one of the largest in regional NSW, with only the Central Coast (2938) and Illawarra (2583) putting more students through their final year of schooling.
In total, over 75,000 students will take part in their final exams over the coming weeks, with business studies and biology two of the most popular electives and Japanese the most popular language subject students will be tested on.
Exams finish on November 11.
