Concerns about recent water main isssues and their affects on businesses and residents were presented at council's meeting on May 25.
Lithgow City Council's water and waste water director Daniel Buckens said a new Integrated Water Cycle Management plan, which is currently in draft form, will be resented to councillors soon.
"It makes recommendations for the next 30-odd years," he said.
Mr Buckens said there had been "a sequence of events" that had caused major disruptions throughout Lithgow over the past week.
"We seem to be on top of the matter. There are still some processes we need to go through," he said.
An old reservoir, which had been out of service for two decades, was being brought online to allow repairs to take place.
In response to Cr Darryl Goodwin's notice of motion to council, Mr Buckens said he would bring a detailed report back to council on the failures.
Cr Goodwin praised the efforts of Mr Buckens and his staff for their efforts last week.
