The court heard the incident began on October 18 last year, when Tregear punched a 14-year-old in the right side of the head during an argument.
At 11am on Saturday, October 20, three people, including a seven-month-old baby, fled a Lithgow house after Tregear became violent and armed himself with a knife. They waved down a passing ambulance. The officer called for emergency assistance and helped them to safety.
Police forced entry to the house through a back window and Tregear was arrested.
