Lithgow hockey star Lachi Sharp was blown away after scoring on home turf in the Kookaburras’ 2-1 victory over Spain in the FIH Pro League on Saturday, March 2 at Sydney Olympic Park Hockey Centre.

Sharp, opened the scoring for Australia, swooping on a rebound, scoring his seventh international goal in less than 30 caps.
The match was also Sharp’s first game in Sydney, having grown up and learned his trade in Lithgow and Sydney’s western suburbs.
“It was good to get out here,” Sharp said.
“A decent crowd turned up. It’s always good to play in front of your family and friends, I really enjoyed it. It was a good day.”
On his goal, Sharp said the team had spoken about getting some rebounds on the Spanish goalie.
“To get one, it was a coach's dream. I was pretty excited,” he said.
Australia will return to Sydney for matches against Argentina and New Zealand on March 16-17 at the Olympic Park.
Sharp said the Kookaburras would be better for the next run against Spain, given a new pitch had only recently been laid at Olympic Park.
“We came out on Thursday and only had one training session on the pitch,” Sharp said.
“After playing a game and a few more training's in two weeks’ time, I’m sure we’ll be right."
