Trevor Schram and Brian Judge then travelled to Orange for the finals.
In the morning semi-final they met Dubbo City and after a tough game prevailed, 20 shots to 17.
The final in the afternoon was against last year’s state runners-up from Cowra.
On a very slow green Schram and Judge struggled with the long ends played by the Cowra pair but finally picked up a shot on the seventeenth end to make the score 25-13.

Naturally Judge called for a short end and Schram delivered - throwing the jack just over the 21 metres. Over the next three ends, playing minimum length ends, Schram and Judge picked up a five, a four and a three to force the game into an extra end.
Judge won the toss for the extra end and, contrary to his usual practice, kept the mat and Schram again put down a short end. Again the Workies pair were in trouble being one down when Judge, with his last bowl, took out Cowra’s shot bowl to win the match and the Zone championship.
Trevor and Brian will now represent the Workmen’s club and Zone 4 at the State titles to be held at Ettalong later this year.
