The Wallerawang Sports Club major singles and pairs have begun, in the singles Ian McManus had a huge task as he took on last year’s champ Craig Brown.

McManus won the first end but then it was all one way traffic as Brown raced away to record a 31-7 victory.
Des Francis and Tiger Feltham had a much closer game with Tiger getting away to lead 4-1. Des fought back to trail 5-6 before a run of 10 of the next 11 ends saw him lead 22-7. Despite playing some good bowls Tiger was outgunned by an in form Francis who went on to win 31-17.
In a second round game, pairs partners Steve Jackson and Kim Alexander played for bragging rights. Jackson got away to a 5 nil lead but after 10 ends Alexander had clawed back to trail 8-10. The scores were 13 all and 14 all before Jackson go to lead 21-17. Alexander then went to lead 22-21. Jackson kicked again and after leading 27-22 he held on to win 31-27.
In the pairs last year’s champs Pommie Williams and Mike McNamara kicked off their title defence against the inform Daryl Archer and Greg Anderson.
Despite a lack of bowls due to work McNamara was great touch as he and Williams shoot to a 13-2 lead after six ends. Anderson and Archer got back to trail 9-16 and after 10 ends their efforts were in vain as Williams and McNamara went on to win 27-15.
In the current weather conditions players are advised to start their games early in the morning or wait until it cools and play under lights.

In social bowls Ray Palmer and Bruce Robinson defeated Lance Gillespie and Vee Brown 16-15.
Ross Harrington and Daryl Archer never looked in doubt as they scored a 21-16 win over Peter Matchett and Ron Vidler.
Daryl and Ross were the days money winners.
With the pennant season coming up Wang have teams in the 5’s and the 7’s but need more names to fill their teams.
The versatility fours are to be played on Monday, January 28 starting at 9am. It is a single entry game with three, two hour games played.

Thursday Twilights were on again last week but once again were blessed by the rain so they will go around again this week.
