A statement from Endeavour Energy said these storms interrupted power supply to more than 25,500 customers and caused more than 260 electrical hazards.
Endeavour Energy brought in crews from Western Sydney, the Southern Highlands and the South Coast to assist local resources with today’s repair effort. They have had to replace damaged poles, remove fallen trees and repair downed powerlines across a wide area to restore power to affected customers.
“While work will continue into tonight, there will be customers without power overnight due to the extent of the storm damage and the complexity of the repairs required,” a spokesperson said.
“The majority of the visiting crews will remain in the Hawkesbury and Lithgow areas tonight and be assisted by fresh crews from Western Sydney tomorrow morning to keep working until all customers have their power back on.
“Our customer service team has been contacting life support customers and those customers still without power today by SMS where phone numbers are known. Customers still without power tonight should monitor our website and mobile outage app for estimated restoration times.
