Rural Aid’s Buy A Bale Program coordinated the successful transportation of a road train from Western Australia to Dubbo and then put on two smaller trucks to be delivered to a property at Rydal for distribution to local farmers.
The two truck loads of hay were purchased through the Lithgow and District Workmen’s Club recent Feed a Farmer fundraising push.
Patrons made donations, entered competitions and participated in the Workies’ gala day on September 9.
Workies president Howard Fisher, board member Allan Gregory and Lithgow Workies General Manager Geoff Wheeler were on hand for the delivery.
Some extremely grateful farmers loaded up their trucks with feed.
The Workies’ representatives said the farmers were not just grateful for the much needed hay, they were very emotional about the local community thinking about them and coming together to help them out.

The Workies sent out a big thank you to its members and the local community for supporting our farmers in times of severe drought.
Lithgow Workies donated over $5000 while the local community dig deep to to get to $9500 and fill the truck load of hay that was delivered on Sunday.
The Lithgow Workies, in conjunction with Rural Aid will be focusing on distributing the $15,000 raised at its Feed Our Farmers Fundraiser earlier this September to help local farmers and their families.
