A lamb of course.
The lamb is Emma, named after one of the locals from Tooraweenah who helped coordinate the mammoth ‘Helping Farmers in the Central West’ effort from September 21-23.
A crew of more than 60 from the greater Lithgow district went to the small western town armed with machinery to give farmers a helping hand.
“We learned about the green drought,” organiser Leanne Fitzgerald said.
“They had 17mm two weeks ago and the crops went in [then] but now, they’re 1-3 inches tall and they’re starting to die off for lack of water.”
More than 50 septic systems were emptied over the weekend, while there were also 35 haircuts, nine excavations, 15 electrical fixes, six gardening jobs, 10 tree lops, five mechanical jobs, 14 house cleaning efforts, eight mental health visits, 64 hampers delivered… and two lambs adopted.
