Library team leader Sharon Lewis said Ms O’Keefe would be missed.
“I think all the library staff will miss her wisdom and ideas,” Ms Lewis said.
“I think she implemented a sense of community in the library and encouraged all organisations to think about holding events in the library.
“We wish her well.”
Ms O’Keefe said she “absolutely enjoyed” the three-and-a-half years she spent in Lithgow, but that she was also looking forward to the challenge of taking on a management role.
“It’s been wonderful working with the library team and we’ve achieved some really great things, big and small,” Ms O’Keefe said.
“Certainly the refurbishment of the library was a wonderful project, which brought great outcomes to the community. I think our move into providing e-books, and soon e-magazines, was a really great project too.”
Ms O’Keefe said she had not seen Leeton Library yet, where she will be library manager.
“I’ve only seen it online. But it looks like a really great community library. I look forward to working closely with the community services team to make sure the library is really engaged with the community.”
Ms O’Keefe said there was a lot to miss about Lithgow.
“I will miss the library team and the support from our community partners and our council, which has been really important.
“I’ll miss our wonderful events, like ‘Movember’ and Harmony Day. I will miss the ukulele group! I loved hearing them play in the library.
“I wish the library continued success and very best wishes to the community.”
