The stickers are being sold to support Portland Colts player Nathan Doggett on his recovery journey.
Nathan Doggett, who remains in Westmead Hospital in intensive care following a car accident in June, has been at the centre of a huge outpouring of support from his community.
“It’s been tremendous, absolutely tremendous,” Nathan’s brother Michael said.
Nathan, 32, was flown to hospital on Friday, June 29 after being hit by a kangaroo while driving near Portland.
While doctors had hoped to be able to bring Nathan out of his induced coma to assess his brain injury, his brother Michael said that had been postponed.
“He contracted pneumonia and that threw a spanner in the works,” he said.
Nathan’s mother has been constantly at his side due to the generosity of his employer, Angus Place Colliery. Centennial Coal has paid for her accommodation to remain near Westmead Hospital.
“We really appreciate the support from the community,” Michael said.
Good friends of the family, Keith and Alitta Selton from Cowra had created the ‘Nathan Doggett’s Journey’ Facebook page, which has been shared information on Nathan’s condition and fundraising events that have been organised.
“They've been tremendously good to us, updating the Facebook page and keeping everyone updated,” he said.
Fundraising has also been undertaken by the Richmond Greyhound Racing Club. Nathan is a keen greyhound enthusiast and former trainer.
Michael sent a special thanks to Portland Colts coach Darrin Fardell, who has played a vital role in handling the funds raised for Nathan.
“He’s been down just about every day, back and forth [to the hospital],” he said.
“We really appreciate what he’s been doing for us.”
