The scam cost her $9,700.
The call alleged she had been selected for a Telstra ‘Scam Watch’ scheme and they had an identification number.
Blue Mountains Police stated she was told not to tell anyone as it was to be a “controlled operation”.
Police said the woman was told to print a document, take it to her bank, transfer $9700 and state that this money was being transferred for a holiday.
Blue Mountains Police urged anyone asked for money in this way to hang up.
“If you get a call from anyone making claims similar to this - say nothing and just HANG UP,” they stated on their Facebook page.
