But police are uncertain what the alleged thieves were searching for.
Officers were called to a home in the small Victorian town of Little River after intruders "forced their way into the home" by smashing a window on New Year's Day or January 2.
Burglars ransacked the home and punched holes in the walls, police said.
They also allegedly stole three trucks and a trailer parked at the home including a white MAN prime mover with Victorian registration XV42ZX, a white DAF truck with New South Wales registration XN42YZ and a white Volvo prime mover with Tasmanian registration C00AY.
The second burglary is believed to have happened around the same time at a nearby rural property, police said.
The house was allegedly ransacked, with a safe holding six registered guns stolen and the fireplace searched.
Police said the firearms stolen include an Emerald, Adler and Stirling shotgun, a Sturm Ruger 22, a Norica air rifle and a Savage rifle.
