But the Lithgow-turned-Bathurst musician is set to return to the stage in a big way on December 5, where he will perform a collection of riff-heavy original rock music at The Victoria Bathurst as part of Arts OutWest's Live and Kicking program.
In Webb's own words, being chosen to take part in Live and Kicking was "the push I needed to get my original music in front of an audience".
"I've wanted to get a band together for a long time and this gig has encouraged me to reach out to some like-minded musicians and start working on it," Webb said.
"We've got a good hour-long set sorted and will feature a host of music I've written over the years, from my late teens to now."
Webb will be joined by Todd Brownlow [Webb's former bandmate from his high-school band, Pilot] on drums and Kaitlyn Baker on bass.
While Webb has released three solo singles over the past 14 months: Sunrise, Unfinished Sculpture and The World Stopped Turnin', he said the gig will be the first time Bathurst audiences will be able to experience these songs live, among others.
"It's nice to finally have the opportunity to present these songs live in the form I've always intended," he said.
"They sound fine acoustically, but they're rock songs, and I hope this gig entices local rock music fans to come out and enjoy something on the heavier side."
In addition to his original music, Webb currently teaches at the Mitchell Conservatorium, has started to incorporate sound gear reviews into his YouTube channel and continues to do the odd gig in Momentum, alongside Lauren Hagney.
But Webb said he's hoping to take a more targeted approach to gigging live in 2022.
"Before lockdown, I was doing two or three cover gigs a week because it's money and work but now I want to be a bit more selective; the aim is to slot in an originals gig once a month," he said.
"I want to get my originals out there more, but I want to be smart about it."
Webb's gig will be held at Little Alberts this Sunday. Doors open at 2pm for a 3pm start. The event will continue next week with Cletis Carr.
Tickets cost $10. For more information, visit The Victoria Bathurst Facebook page.
