Hopefully finer weather will arrive for what is one of the best months on the golfing calendar.
December is chock full of big events, both scratch and handicap, starting with the Short Course championship (Saturday, December 4) which is played in memory of two of the club's favourite members - Peter "Munzo" Newham and Brian "Grub" Whichelo - who passed away far too early with a band of their friends again sponsoring the event in memory of the popular pair.
The short course event is always a fun event and one that all of "Munzo" and "Grubs" friends strive to win.
The washed out November monthly medals has been moved to Saturday, December 11 and it will be a great way to warm up for the following day's Lithgow Open (Sunday, December 12).
The Open event will be again sponsored by Westfund and also Drummond Golf Penrith and the club thanks both these valued sponsors.
The Open is one of the club's blue ribbon events and local golfers will be keen to stop the trend of visiting golfers dominating the coveted trophy over the past couple of years.
Mudgee Star golfers Mark Hale and Andrew Best have enjoyed success in recent years and will be keen to continue this trend.
Lithgow boast a host of talented low markers who will be using their local knowledge of their course in a bid to lift the Open trophy aloft.
The big events keep on coming with the Zig Zag Motel Summer Cup being staged on the following weekend (Dec 18) with the Motel good supporters of golf over many years.

There will be some ambrose events also set down for the holidays plus the usual nine hole Wednesday and Friday competitions.
The course will be closed for Christmas Day and then the big events start again with the January monthly medals sponsored by Henry's Plant and Equipment Hire starting the year off the year on January 1, 2022.
The course should be in superb condition following the rains and some exciting golf should be played over December and hopefully Mother Nature will play her part with some sunny weather.
