Staff were seen on Sunday putting the finishing touches to the new Oporto restaurant in the Gateway development at Kelso, on the eastern highway entrance to Bathurst.
The restaurant, famous for its Portuguese-style chicken burgers, opened to its first customers at 9am on Monday.
Oporto founder Antonio Cerqueira first started serving Portuguese-style flame grilled chicken and his original chilli sauce in 1986 from a small chicken shop in North Bondi.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
From there the franchise has grown to more than 100 stores across Australia and New Zealand.
The Western Advocate revealed last year that Oporto had set its sights on opening a restaurant in the Gateway development and just last month there was a large banner on display at the site calling for people to apply to work there.
The Bondi Burger is Oporto's signature menu item but customers can also select from wraps, salads, kids' meals and desserts.
Oporto will be the third business open in the Gateway development, joining Imagine Childcare and a Metro Petroleum service station.
