Waste of time no further employment once battery is built no job opportunities, just build another highly efficient coal fired station and stop worrying about pleasing the rest world with how much greenhouse gasses we produce, because what we produce is a drop in the ocean compared to China or India or other large manufacturing countries.
Looking forward to the changing landscape
The diversifying of the site is fantastic. It would even be better if energy Australia's recent announcement of pumped hydro were to go ahead and supply the feed to the batteries. I believe solar and wind may become outdated over time through advances in technology with Hydrogen and other green energy sources and this should be welcomed as the amount of land being taken up by solar and wind turbines is becoming excessive.
Neoen's proposal for the Great Western Battery at Brays Lane is a concern being very close to a Sydney water supply. I'm sure all the boxes will be ticked by the relevant Government departments but I'm guessing it won't get the scrutiny from environmental groups as other sources of power generation have over the years. Greeenspot have indicated there will be very few jobs when the batteries are up and running. (six full time employees run the South Australian equivalent), but no information on any other projects.
To be honest I would rather see the site completely demolished and witness a new beginning considering there is no prospective occupiers of what is to be retained but perhaps that may be a little to cost prohibitive. In any case it is great to see progress and I'm looking forward to witnessing the changing landscape as I drive past the site over the next couple of years.
