Ten year-old Emily Highley is set to say goodbye to her luscious locks on July 16, which will be donated to Hair with Heart. The charity helps to make wigs for children who have lost their hair due to medical conditions.
"I'm doing this so that I can help the kids that have no hair, because they have diseases and treatments that make their hair fall out," Emily said.
The Lithgow Public School student's hair length is currently 65 centimetres and her hairdresser Rachel Cameron, will chop 35 centimetres off.
Emily said she was a little nervous to under go the big chop but it was all for a good cause.
"I feel good to be able to help sick kids and make a difference to a sick kid's life," she said.
"I am just a 10 year-old girl trying to encourage people to help others. Everyone should just be kind."
