Mudgee golfers continued their domination of the Lithgow Golf Open when Mark Hale took out his third Lithgow Open trophy.

The Open attracted nearly 150 golfers from far and wide with the prestigious event again sponsored by Westfund with director Graeme Osborne on hand at the presentation to accept the thanks from club president Greg Guest.
Hale who plays off a handicap of +4 shot a round of 72 to edge out his clubmate Andrew Best who was last year's winner. Best also plays off +4.
These were excellent scores considering the quick greens and very strong blustery winds that swept across the course all day.
Hale went out in 38 strokes and then stormed home with a 34 on the back nine.
Best had the same as Hale on the front nine but came up one short on the back nine to finish with 73.
The most successful Lithgow golfer was young Tallan Egan who took out the A grade handicap with 66 nett and with his 77 off the stick also took out the Junior Scratch event.
Egan set up his win with a par 36 on the back nine which included three birdies making it five all up for the day and is a golfer to watch in the future.
Junior runner up to Egan was Mark Hale's son James on 81.
The A grade handicap runner up was Luke Oldfield on 70 nett.
The B grade handicap winner was Charlie Miller with a 71 nett with the runner up being Brandon Lloyd on 74 nett.
The Vets scratch went to Max Nightingale on 76 with Paul Gray as the handicap winner with his 68 nett.
Nearest to the pins went to Dave Marshall, Monty Van Veen, Eric Whalan, Chris Neville and Z Edwin.
The longest drives went to Robert Miller in B grade and AJ Choma in A grade.
A big thank you was extended to Carol Osborne, Julie Murnane and Lynne Ritchie for manning the barbecue, the greens staff for preparing the course to such a high standard and the staff for making the day the success it was.
