The lucky winner told officials from The Lott that she only thought of buying a ticket last week when the customer before her at Trinity News & Gifts picked up a Lucky Lotteries ticket.

The woman was an unregistered player so The Lott could not immediately contact her to tell of her of her win.

Instead, she only discovered she was $1.54 million richer when she checked her ticket after learning the newsagency had sold the winner.

"I am a bit excited," she laughed as she spoke to an official from The Lott today.

"Oh god, I can't believe this.

"You know, this is probably only the second or third lottery ticket I have ever bought.

"When I was in the newsagency last week, someone in front of me was buying a Lucky Lotteries ticket, so I decided I might get one too.

"Gosh it was so random. I was only in there because I needed to buy a card and never would've bought that ticket if the lady in front of me hadn't bought one.

"And then today I came in to buy the paper and the lady at the counter was telling the customer in front of me that there was a mystery winner.

"I thought 'oh my god, imagine if it's me'."

The woman handed her ticket to newsagency owner Sharon Bryon who immediately recognised it as the winner.

"The newsagent took one look at the ticket and said 'I've memorised the winning number, and you have the winning number. You're the mystery winner'," the woman said.

"It's so surreal. I never thought I would be a millionaire, but now I am.

"It's unimaginable. You always dream of winning, but never think it will happen.

"I can't believe I've had a million-dollar ticket sitting in my wallet. I am so scared that I am going to lose this!

"This is unreal. It feels like destiny'"

When asked how she planned to enjoy her prize, she said already had a few ideas. Paying off the mortgage is at the top of the list, along with holidays and "something to spoil myself".

Ms Bryon said she was delighted to be able to deliver the winning news to her customer.

"We are so happy it is a local customer," she said.

"We are so incredibly happy for her and we wish her all the very best.

"I can't believe I was able to deliver the winning news to her. It was breathtaking and a moment I will never forget.

"This is the biggest winning news I have been able to deliver. It was so exciting.

"We wish her all the very best. I am so glad we were able to make one of our customers a millionaire."
