There's been a frenzy of activity going on at the local sporting venue as local tradesmen carry out the upgrades as part of the NSW Government's $1.8 million COVID-19 stimulus package.

Funding of more than $180,000 was made available to Lithgow City Council for work to upgrade changing and meeting room facilities.

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole visited the showground recently, and caught up with Andrew Van Harskamp from Dean Horton Building and plumber Kerry Vlores to see how work was progressing.

"Our showgrounds play an important role at the heart of our communities so I welcome this further investment by the NSW Government," Mr Toole said.

"These upgrades in Lithgow will improve the use, condition and safety of the sportsground's infrastructure for future generations while supporting tradies and material suppliers."

This latest investment follows the announcement last month of $60,000 in upgrades to irrigation at the ground.

Minister for Water, Property and Housing Melinda Pavey said the local showground was among 153 across the state getting stimulus funding this financial year.

"The showground stimulus program is generating economic activity in local economies impacted by COVID-19 while supporting the long-term sustainability of showgrounds right across NSW," she said.
