Grippers started the better, taking the opening rubber 2-0, but after three rubbers Smashes had tied it up at 4-all.
Grippers stole a break to go up 8-6 nearing the halfway point and increased their margin by one to 11-8 with time running out for Smashes.
Smashes got back to within one at 11-10 down but Grippers restored the status quo by securing the last singles 2-0 for a valuable 13-10 edge going into the doubles.
Smashes battled valiantly in the first doubles to keep their title hopes alive, but Grippers won both games 11-9 to progress to a Grand Final showdown with Charolais, 15-10.
Mick Wagner led from the front for Grippers with a dominant 6-1 record, followed by Lou Kappos at 5-3 and Linda Kappos 2-6.
Smashes flew under the radar, idling along in third place for most of the season, and with a bit of luck may have advanced to the decider.
Matthew Kappos (4-4) was the only member to break even, with Mark McAulay going 3-4 and Shane Eagle 3-5.
The Grand Final will be played tomorrow night (Wednesday, November 18) at the Old Trades Hall (down the lane next to Waratah Dental in Railway Parade) from 7:15pm. Spectators are welcome, and admission is free.
The Winter competition for 2021 is set to commence in early February.
