Cody Godden missed out on playing with his wolf pack this year, thanks to Covid-19.
While there was a block on Group 10 due to Covid-crowd control and financial issues, Godden was still lucky enough to get out onto the field this season.
"I didn't think I'd be getting to play footy this year because of Covid," Godden said.
The 23 year-old secured a spot in the opens Western Rams squad.
"The Western Division got selected to play in the Presidents Cup which is pretty exciting," he said.
He said while he was looking forward to having a year off he was stoked to be able to still play.
"A year off would have been great but so is still getting to play, especially this level of footy," he said.
Taking the field at this high level Godden has had the opportunity to travel around and test out different venues.
"It's a great opportunity to travel around, play footy and meet new people," he said.
So far he has played at venues in Forbes, Wollongong, Dubbo, Orange and Maitland.
This weekend the Rams are headed to Mudgee where they will meet with Wentworthville Tigers at 3pm in round six of the Presidents Cup and Godden hopes to snag the win.
"I hope we can sneak away with the win since it's our home game," he said.
Leading up to games Godden said the team tried to meet up as much as they could.
"Because we are players from all over the Western region we don't get together too much but we have been training on Friday night's before the Saturday games when we can.
"Usually we meet in Orange, Mudgee or somewhere local," he said.
Godden encouraged locals to come and support the squad at home.
"I've been having heaps of support from friends and family coming to watch, it definitely helps having a home crowd," he said.
