This comes thanks to a $2585 Australian Governments National Shed Development Programme (NSDP) grant.

The band saw will assist with rounding off pieces of timber to reduce sharp edges, for use in furniture projects and other works created by the men's shed members for the community.

Wallerawang Men's Shed secretary Ian McMillan said this funding was critical to the continuation of the Men's Shed.

"Without this funding, we couldn't survive, we are very grateful for the governments ongoing support," Mr McMillan said.

Federal Member for Calare and Minister for Decentralisation and Regional Education, Andrew Gee stopped by the Wallerawang Mens Shed on Friday, August 7 to congratulate the members in person on receiving the grant.

"The blokes at the Wallerawang Men's Shed have done a great job getting this Shed up and running and the work they do for the local community is fantastic," Mr Gee said.

The Wallerawang Shed has grown close to 20 members since they first kicked off in 2017 and it's growing at a steady rate because of everything the Shed offers both the members and local residents.

"The generosity of these blokes never ceases to amaze me, giving up their time to create wonderful works for the community, such as timber rocking horses, tables and chairs, and they have a crack at anything else that they can manage," Mr Gee said.

"And at its core, it's a great place for local blokes to come together, to talk about anything that's on their mind and to develop that sense of fellowship.

"Many men's shed members tell me of the health benefits of catching up with mates and being part of the shed movement."

The NSDP is a competitive Men's shed grants programme that started in 2010.

It allows men's sheds and the organisations that support them to apply for funds. They then use these funds to better respond to their community's needs.
