AN ALPINE condition alert remains in place for the Great Western Highway with motorists urged to slow down and drive to the conditions.

The alert is for the stretch of highway between Bathurst and Lithgow with with snow reported to have settled in areas around Yetholme overnight.
Traffic is affected in both directions and motorists travelling through the area are urged to exercise caution.

At 8am on Monday the temperature in Bathurst was 8.0 degrees with a 'feels like' of 3.7, while in Lithgow it was colder at 6.6 degrees with a 'feels like' of 3.4.
Clearing showers are predicted for the day in Bathurst with a top of 13 degrees, in Lithgow showers are predicted with a top of seven degrees.
