Lithgow will get to see a familiar face, as our very own hometown girl Brooke MacDonald puts her heart on the line in the hope to find true love with a man from the land.

The 25 year-old printer/bartender said she initially applied for the show as a bit of a laugh but it turned into something more for her.

"I'd been tagged [by friends] on Facebook for awhile and then it got to the point where I was like why not?

"And the further along I went with the whole process I thought well maybe this is something I do actually want," she said.

She said she hasn't had the best of luck with love in the past and thought this could be her chance to meet someone amazing.

Out of the five farmers on the show - Harry, Alex, Sam, Neil and Nick who are on their quest to find love, Brooke chose 29 year-old sheep and cattle farmer Alex from Cunnamulla in South West Queensland.

"I chose farmer Alex because he seemed like a really lovely guy, he has nice eyes and a nice smile.

"His relationship with his family was important too and he was also a real larrikin, he's definitely someone you can have a laugh with," Brooke said.

Brooke said she used to watch Farmer Wants A Wife with her mum when it aired a few years ago.

"It was good to sort of know what I was getting into a little bit.

"I also chose this show in particular because the people on it are so much more genuine than those you see on other reality shows," she said.

She said the application process was a little daunting but everyone involved was "really lovely".

"It was interesting because I didn't expect to keep going as far as I did.

"It was full on, different, because I'm not used to being filmed and having my personal life put on TV, it was definitely an interesting experience.

"I met some fantastic people, I wouldn't change my experience for the world," she said.

Brooke's journey of country love begins on Sunday, July 26 when Farmer Wants A Wife airs on Channel Seven at 7pm.

In Australia alone the series has resulted in nine marriages and 20 country babies.

In a series first, all five farmers and their potential wives will come together every week to share their experiences.

At the end of each event, one lucky lady is chosen to spend a one-one-one romantic date with her farmer when they return to the farm.

At the end of the farm stays we'll find out which farmers have found true love when they reveal to host Natalie Gruzlewski, their chosen lady.
