The Treasured Creations owner has been hand-making cards for two years after a business developed from her love of crafting.
She started out with a cheap stack of cards, some acrylic paint, stamps and a lot of encouragement from family and friends.
"They [family and friends] urged me to continue to pursue making cards and eventually I had the courage to share my creations outside of friends and family," she said.
With growing interest, Alyssa began a Facebook page - Treasured Creations, for the custom creations.
She said she makes custom cards for all occasions, as well as pre made cards that are readily available.
"Some of the more interesting creations I have made are shaker cards, 3D pop up box cards, coasters, gift boxes, gift card holders and a custom made Elf House," she said.
Alyssa said each card she made was different and she would spend a lot of time interacting with a customer.
"I will always start with a card base and interacting with the customers to get an understanding of what they want from the card, or a rough idea of the occasion I want the card to be for such as a birthday of wedding," she said.
She would then make backgrounds, die cut items, colour stamped items, create sentiments, make flowers or fussy cut items.
"...then comes the fun part, the assembly.
"Once I have finished assembling I love looking back at the item I have created."
Alyssa said cards don't always turn out the way she envisions them, and she often did a lot of swaps and changes before assembling the final product.
"I always have a great time doing it and sometimes my partner and son join in on the fun," she said.
She said she sourced her materials from local craft shops and sometimes online.
