Road closures and Council works:
Lithgow and Hartley
Council wishes to advise residents of the closure of Hartley Vale Road, Fields Road and Geordie Street due to flooding.
Due to the current rain event, the identified roads have been closed for the safety of motorists and the community.
Council will continue to monitor all weather and road conditions and implement necessary arrangements as required.
The patience of affected residents is appreciated and Council advises that changed traffic conditions must be observed by all motorists travelling through the area.
Council apologises for any inconvenience that the road closures may cause.
Lithgow City Council will be immediately closing the Upper Turon Road bridge.
An assessment and inspection of the bridge on Upper Turon Road in the vicinity of Turon Gates has raised concerns of the structural integrity of the asset.
Due to the risk this poses to public safety, the bridge has been closed with immediate effect.
The community and public are required to cross the river through the adjacent causeway, until a temporary bridge can be installed as a matter of priority in early July 2020.
Once this temporary bridge is installed, Council will commence the design and construction of a permanent replacement bridge.
As works progress, please be aware that traffic conditions will change in this area.
Motorists are advised to exhibit caution and advanced warning signage will be in place to warn all motorists. Council appreciates the community's assistance, patience and understanding in this matter.
Water supply in the area of Barton Street, Lithgow may be affected due to a water mains break.
Council is undertaking emergency repairs on the reticulation network that services Barton Street, Lithgow. Residents in this area may experience a reduction in water pressure or no water.
Council cannot advise a time for the completion of repairs, but will aim to minimise the period of disruption.
Upon return of normal service, residents may experience dirty water for a period. Council will endeavour to minimise this by flushing the mains.
Before using the water for domestic purposes, residents are advised to run the first tap that services their property to ensure the water is clean and any dirt released into the system has been flushed before running internal taps.
