Bathurst MP Paul Toole said on Tuesday that he secured funding of $30,000 for the club to construct an awning on the front verandah to provide shelter outside the new function and eatery section.
Mr Toole said the upgrade would add more outdoor space to the club and complement the work on the extensions which have also included a new kitchen and bar area, servicing the club's patrons in both the main bar and the new function and auditorium area.
"As a result of the awning addition, the entire front of the club will have a shaded area which is very popular during the warmer weather," he said.
"I am sure the upgrades to the club will enhance its appeal for the wider community and provide residents of Wallerawang with a wonderful facility to get together socially and host special events."
Wallerawang Community and Sports Club secretary-manager Steve Jackson said he's happy with the extra funding.
"We had a government grant to build an auditorium and a new kitchen but we couldn't afford to out the awning over the front of it. So Paul Toole come good with $30,000," Mr Jackson said.
"We will have local tradesman erecting it. That's what the grant was about, it was to support local business, local tradesmen.
"We very, very much appreciate it because we are a community based not for profit organisation, all our money goes back into the community, supporting sports, people that need it and local schools and whatever [else]."
Steve said the awning is being engineered in South Australia right now and they hope to have it installed soon.
