
The NSW over 50s State Championships were held in Orange last month. The Western Wildfires were represented at those matches by two teams and a Barbarians team.

The Wildfires Division 1 team won two of their three matches and acquitted themselves very well.
In game 1 the Wildfires beat the highly fancied Riverina team. Riverina batted first making a very good 6/224 only to be run down by the Wildfires who made 8/226 in the final over.
Game 2 saw the Wildfires make 168 only to be just beaten by Port Jackson who made 8/170 with just one over to spare.
In the final game the Wildfires took on the Macquarie Valley team and were successful.
Valley were bowled out for 166 and in reply the Wildfires made 5/167 with 4 overs to go.
The best performed batsmen were Dave Glasson 126 (twice out), richard Sharp 82 (twice out), Bruce Tom 71 (out once) and Stuart Crisp 68 (twice out).

The Barbarian team suffered from a lack of numbers but were still competitive.
Game 1 saw them come out on top in a 20/20 game against Newcastle who made 78 and the Barbs scored 4/82.
In game 2 the Barbs made 109 with the Hunter Taverners making an easy 2/112.
The final game had Barbs making 106 while opponents Macquarie Galahs only lost one wicket.
Best batting was 72 n,o, Starkey 35 (twice n.o) and Simpson 32 (out once).
Best bowlers were Starkey with 4 wickets and Reed with 3.
All players enjoyed the carnival and are already talking about next year.
