THERE'S a sense of ominous silence out there about just where we're up to with the promised and much anticipated MRI scanner for Lithgow Hospital.
The high tech diagnostic equipment was announced for Lithgow prior to the federal election last year when we were awarded one of the limited licences allocated by the government.
But not a word since, at least in the public arena.
It's no secret that various political interests were pushing hard for the allocation to go to Katoomba and it's equally no secret that health authorities in the Mountains would still get under our neck if the opportunity arose.
The current impasse must be an embarrassment for Federal Member Andrew Gee who had campaigned for the Lithgow licence on the basis of unarguable merit.
Time for the Nepean/Blue Mountains/Lithgow Health bureaucrats to end the concerns with a definitive statement on the state of play.
TIME is standing still in Lithgow lately.
That somewhat outdated town clock on the even more outdated facade opposite Cook Plaza has been stalled at 7.05 for several days. At least it's correct twice a day.
The horse has bolted
PLENTY of hand wringing and finger pointing in high places following Holden's death notice.
But it's a somewhat hypocritical response to the sad demise; government departments and agencies have been buying cheaper overseas brands for years.
Too late to wake up now. But now for a little Holden trivia; didja know one of the colours available on the first Holdens back in '48 was Lithgow Cream? Dunno how we rated a mention but it's a matter of record.
Not for us!
RESIDENTS in Wolgan Valley have been told by Lithgow Council that a bushfire recovery meeting that had been scheduled for this month has been postponed to March.
The reason? The road into the valley's considered too dangerous for Council.
THOSE history marker boards around our area are a good idea and well thought out. But like most things they require occasional maintenance.
The one at the playground end of QE Park recording events of 1929 is particularly in need of a good clean and recovery from some minor vandalism.
Should be a routine procedure at all locations methinks.
