The entire site has been closed twice during the past few months due to extreme weather events - the first a raging bushfire that closed the site from December 30 to February 1.

Then, just 10 days later very heavy rainfall caused flooding and damage and the site was closed from February 11 to 23.

However, staff have been on site to ensure a partial reopening from Monday.

"We are not yet taking cave tour bookings as we are still working out our Welcome Back tour timetable," Jenolan Caves posted online.

"From Monday, our heritage-listed hotel, Caves House, will reopen for overnight stays.

"Upstairs in Caves House, magnificent Chisolm's Restaurant will reopen, along with Jeremiah's Bar."

Due to bushfire and flood damage, bushwalks, the Nettle Cave and Devil's Coach House Cave remain closed until further notice.

While the site may be about to reopen, motorists will face delays due to the ongoing closure of some roads.

"The main approach to Jenolan, via Jenolan Caves Road, has not yet been declared safe, so visitors must use Edith Road," Jenolan Caves said.

"The final 3.2 kilometres of Edith Road are steep, very narrow and winding, with several tight hairpin bends and is not suitable for caravans.

"However, Edith Road is sealed, and OK for experienced drivers in average-sized cars, campervans or small minibuses. Take it slow, and watch for wildlife crossing the road."

The Edith Road detour adds around 20kms, or an extra 40 minutes, to the trip.

Visitors have been encouraged to embrace the longer route and stop in at Oberon on the way through.
