Mingaan Wiradjuri Aboriginal Corporation's Aunty Sharon Riley and Lithgow Chifley RFS Inspector Mick Holland were recognised for their contribution in saving Maiyingu Marragu (The Hands) from the recent Gospers Mountain fire.

They both received a framed certificate of thanks from Aunty Helen Riley on behalf of Mingaan Aboriginal Corporation on Monday, February 17.
"We are so very appreciative of the work you have done," Aunty Helen said.
Member for Calare Andrew Gee also thanked Aunty Sharon and the RFS personally in Facebook updates he did on the fire.

"On behalf of the community I'd like to thank Aunty Helen Riley, Sharon, Lithgow Fire Control and all the firies who helped.
"Their efforts saved these irreplaceable parts of our national cultural heritage which are tens of thousands of years old.
"This site is quite simply a national treasure and its destruction would have been devastating. The work they did that day was of national significance and we can't thank them enough," he said.
