Grippers trailed Charolais 3-2 early on, but a 6-1 run put them ahead for good at 8-4 and they coasted to the line, 18-11.
All of the Grippers side contributed to the victory, with Sharnie Roberts scoring 5-3, Helen Munro, in her competition debut, going 4-3 and Leon Rust playing three three-gamers for 5-4.
Maurie Poole (6-2) was best for a well-beaten Charolais, while Sean Jenkins (3-6) dropped three 2-1 decisions, and Dave Mays had a luckless 1-6.
Smashes started the better in their clash with Tree Huggers, going away to 4-2 and 6-4 leads. Tree Huggers hit the front at 8-6 just past the halfway point but at the completion of the singles the teams were locked together at 10-all.
Smashes took charge in the doubles, winning the first 2-0 and the second 2-1, to claim a 14-11 victory.
Beth Munro, also in her debut, made a sparkling start with a 6-1 result for Smashes, while Linda and Megan Kappos went 2-4 and 2-5 respectively.
Peter Jaccoud (5-2) just beat teammate Mark McAulay (4-2) to best record for TreeHuggers, and Mark Watchorn finished 1-6.

Spinners appeared in control of their match with Choppers for most of the night but couldn't deliver the knock-out blow. They led 2-0 and 6-3 and then a comfortable 12-7 with only the last singles and two doubles to play.
Choppers turned it all around however, taking the singles and the first doubles both 2-0 before winning a close second doubles 2-1 to snatch a 13-all tie.
Substitute Matt Kappos (5-2), along with Pauline Wellfare (5-3) were best for Spinners, while Malcolm Jeffries returned 2-4.
Jason Bailey (6-2), another debutante, hit his straps straight away for Choppers, with Shane Eagle recording 3-4 and Kelly Gurney down on form at 0-6.
