NSW fires: Heatwave, dangerous fire conditions on Thursday

There are currently more than 100 fires burning across NSW, with many significant fires burning near populated areas which are experiencing extreme to severe fire danger.

The large fires in the Central West include the out-of-control 411,925 hectare Gospers Mountain bushfire burning east of Lithgow and through the Blue Mountains.

Also the out-of-control 152,599 Green Wattle Creek bushfire burning through the Kanangra-Boyd National Park.

Both of these fires are expected to spread significantly on Thursday and the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) has issued a map of the potential fire spread.

This will see the fire move closer to Lithgow, Wallerawang, Cullen Bullen, Bilpin and Kurrajong.

The RFS has urged people to leave early if they are near these locations or in bushland areas.

"These communities may come under threat on Thursday from embers or fire fronts," the NSW RFS said.

"Conditions are then forecast to worsen again on Saturday.
